What does the week look like?

Over the course of the week there are several events as part of the CPAQ and National Conference along with some casual activities with park operators catching up in their free time.

When you book your ticket for the conference consider which of the following events you would like to attend.

Sunday 27 March 2022

On Sunday evening there are a small number of Queensland park operators that have advised they will be onsite and plan on catching up for dinner. If you wish to join this group, let a member of the CPAQ team know and we will connect you.

Monday 28 March 2022

Monday morning will kick off with a Golf Day (breakfast and registration from 7:30am). This will be a 4 Person Ambrose Team Event on the 18-hole PGA Championship Course.

If you want to make the beginning of the CPAQ Conference program you might need to finish your golf game early as we kick off at 12:00 noon.

Monday’s program includes:

Afternoon tea will be held in our trade space where you can speak with our sponsors, suppliers of quality products and services to the caravan parks sector, and earn tickets for the conference raffle.

On Monday evening we will host our CPAQ Awards Dinner (7:00pm for a 7:30pm start), a chance to celebrate the winners of the 2022 CPAQ Awards over exceptional food, drinks and company.

Tuesday 29 March 2022

The CPAQ Conference will kick off again at 8:30am Tuesday morning with another set of strong topics including:

  • Ecotourism is the future of our business

  • The Future of Solar

  • Cut your caravan park's business costs with ecoBiz

  • Fire Safety Toolkit for Parks

  • Would you know how to offer assistance?

  • Navigating important employment issues

  • Using Workflow for compliance

Morning tea and lunch will be held in our trade space so you can continue those important conversations you started on Monday.

After lunch we will close out the conference with some inspirational stories including ‘My dream for the industry’ and a story from a leading tourism business, ending with our exciting conference raffle.

There are several events occurring on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Under 40’s can register for the Future Leaders workshop (3:00pm – 5pm) which will be followed by drinks providing an exceptional opportunity for Future Leaders to build their networks and learn from others in the industry

  • Attend a Newbook Workshop to learn some great tips on how to make this product work harder for you (from 3:00pm)

  • G’Day Parks can join the activities being organised by their group in the evening. Meet at 4:45pm so the bus can leave promptly at 5:15pm. Speak to the G’Day team for more information.

There will be several Queensland park operators around on Tuesday evening offering great company for casual dinners in one of the many fantastic restaurants available at RACV Royal Pines Resort. For entertainment the National team will be opening the Dometic Bar with Karaoke from 8:30pm.

Wednesday 30 March 2022

Start Wednesday with one of the great Masterclasses being held across the morning, in addition to the options from Caravan Industry Association of Australia, CPAQ will be hosting a deep dive into Tenancies in Queensland, particularly topical this year with the changes to the legislation.

Masterclasses scheduled by the National team include revenue management, media training, board governance, cyber security, and an RMS workshop. These sessions will be facilitated by national and global change makers, you won’t just have the opportunity to hear from them, but you will get the chance to get hands on in applying their ideas and concepts to your business.

For G’Day parks, attend the information session being held by the group in the morning. This session will include a feedback session where you can feed your thoughts and concerns to the G’Day Parks Advisory Board. Don’t forget the G’Day group have kindly offered to subsidise $750 towards conference registration costs for each G’Day Park so make sure you take full advantage of this opportunity.

The National Conference Trade Exhibition will open at midday allowing you to wander this space, speak to the suppliers in attendance, providing you the chance to ‘touch and feel’ their products.

At 3:30pm the first speaker for the National Conference will start, with some interest and engage speakers, including, back by popular demand with an updated story, Michael Crossland across the afternoon.

This conference opening will be followed by the annual Cocktail Party held in the Trade Exhibition from 6:00pm. Enjoy drinks and canapes will exploring the trade exhibition and reconnecting with friends and acquaintances.

Thursday 31 March 2022

Thursday will kick off with a breakfast speaker (7:00am for a 7:30am start) discussing the investment outlook of equities and property in a looming inflationary environment.

The main conference sessions will commence at 9:00am with topics for parks including:

  • Managing your cyber security – don’t get hit like other industry businesses

  • What does Caravan 2030 look like – the electric and consumer revolution

  • Mental health within the workplace

  • Being an employer of choice

  • Leadership and resilience

  • Beating the OTA’s – how to keep revenue and customers

  • Mistakes made through the caravan park sale process

  • Embracing indigenous tourism

  • Maximising revenue streams outside of traditional income sources

After a full day of conference sessions, you’ll be ready to relax and enjoy the company of your fellow conference delegates with dinner by the pool from 6:30pm.

Following dinner, you will be invited to relive your retro days with the Killer Queen Experience, scheduled to kick off at 9:00pm.

Friday 1 April 2022

Despite the late evening the night before, we encourage you to get up early and hear from the breakfast speaker (7:00am for a 7:30am start) as they discuss the federal budget, what it means for the caravan industry and provide a look ahead to the federal election.

Main conference sessions will once again kick off from 9am with topics including:

  • Caravan park research – what is happening around the country

  • Maximising yield

  • Making the most out of consumer reviews

  • A 1 hour panel discussion on the insurance dilemma

  • The popular Women in Business forum

  • Maximising your customer database

  • Using geospatial data

  • How to best manage conflict

  • Bernard Salt’s update on the post COVID customer

Conference sessions will end at 3:30pm and delegates will be invited to head out to the lawn for afternoon tea and drinks. This is a great chance to wind down and chat about all the great topics that have been covered over the past five days.

The culmination of the National Conference is always a spectacular Industry Gala Dinner on Friday, giving us all a chance to get dressed up and celebrate everything our industry has to offer. Featuring a stellar three-course meal, you’ll be treated to fantastic live entertainment, and we’ll all toast the Award Winners. Everyone is invited to arrive from 7:00pm for pre-dinner drinks with the dinner commencing at 7:30pm.

The Gala Dinner is a chance to really dress up and to help you do that, the Dometic Glam Bar will be open from 2:00pm. The Dometic Glam Bar books out every year so make sure you add your name to the list when you register onsite for the National Conference and have industry professionals assist you with your hair or makeup.
